We’re off to see the……Kansas City guitar show!

In the land of cyclones, fairy godmothers, and ruby red shoes popped up a new guitar show. This last weekend, July 24-25, didn’t see any wicked witches-but rather a multitude of fine vintage instruments.  The Adams Pointe Convention Center in Blue Springs, MO was host to the newest Texas Amigos guitar show. We were on hand for this inagural event and had a great time sharing our wares and demonstrating how YOU can install a Bigsby vibrato on your instrument.   It was also great to hear of and learn of all the stories of players in the area who have played original Bigsby instruments. Kansas City has (and has had) quite a lively musical community. Thanks to all who stopped by, visited, and shared your stories! It was a great first show and we’re looking forward to 2011!

Bigsby at the Playboy Mansion?

What does a Bigsby B5 have in common with Hugh Hefner? We weren’t exactly sure either, but then we found this video. From a bygone era of after dinner cocktails with a rock band playing in your lounge, comes a guitar lesson of sorts from Ritchie Blackmore. Sporting a snazzy suit and pipe, Mr. Hefner borrows Blackmore’s guitar for a quick lesson before deciding he should probably stay with his day…or in this case, Playboy After Dark job. From American TV in 1968, Deep Purple performs its first hit “Hush”.  As Hef says: its really gonna ‘groove the kids’! Enjoy!
